On holiday with a Daimler

In August 2016 we went on holiday to the south of France and it was a testcase to see how reliable the Daimler was. It was a great trip and the Daimler performed perfectly.

Daimler in Switzerland

Our first stop was Hotel aux Mille Etoiles in Les Marécottes Switzerland. That was a 950 km trip mostly on the highway. Our lunch stop was at Raststätte Pratteln, which is a bit of a family tradition. After lunch we stayed on the highway until Martigny and drove the last miles to the hotel were we arrived just in time for diner. It was an effortless trip on which we mostly drove with speeds between 130 and 170 km/h. The Daimler drove very smooth and comfortable. As one would expect.

Daimler in Italy

The next stop, the following day was Menton were we would stay for a couple of days. We started with the Saint Bernard pass, stopped for coffee at Hotel Italia and drove to Italian plaatsje for lunch. By that time we instructed the sat nav to forget about highways and drove through the Alps to Menton, were we checked in at our AirBnB. The next day we explored Menton and the Daimler stayed parked in front of the AirBnB.

Daimler in Monaco

When we left Menton we drove to the departement Vaucluse, were we drove around for a week. There were some challenges, like small streets in small villages and medieval parking garages, but we enjoyed driving around very much.

Daimler in France

The last stop on the journey was a friend who lives in Pas de Calais, a 1000 km trip from the south east of France to the Nord west. It was august, so temperatures were between 25 and 30 degrees, but the Daimler again drove effortlessly. Actually, when we arrived home, the engine ran better than ever. So it was a good idea to take her on a roadtrip. You probably missed issues we had with the Daimler, but there were not any. We didn’t need any road assistance, no warning lights lit up, nothing. So, you can drive with a 20 year old English car through France without any problems.
